Corporations are legal entities that are separate from the company's owners, which offers them the greatest protection for personal liability. That said, there are often different tax incentives that provide both pros and cons to forming a corporation.
What do I need when applying for Novo as a Corporation?
Generally speaking, Novo will search for your documents through your state's Secretary of State's website. These documents will need to have been registered with the state with your name and signature on them. If they have not been filed we recommend you do so before applying.
Should we be unable to locate them we may request one of the following documents:
- Articles of incorporation, also referred to as the certificate of incorporation, or the corporate charter, are a document or charter that establishes the existence of a corporation in the United States and Canada. They generally are filed with the Secretary of State or other company registrars.
- Corporate bylaws are a detailed set of rules adopted by a corporation's board of directors after the company has been incorporated. They are an important legal document for a corporation to have in place as they specify its internal management structure and how it will be run. Read more here.
